Black Sesame Butter Rice Krispy Treats: A Nutty & Delicious Twist

If you thought Rice Krispy Treats couldn’t get any better, let me introduce you to their cool, sophisticated cousin, Black Sesame Butter Rice Krispy Treats. Think nutty, toasty, slightly savory vibes that balance out the sweet, gooey marshmallow goodness. It’s like the childhood snack you know and love… but with a Chinese twist.

If you haven’t tried Rooted Fare’s Crunchy Black Sesame Butter yet, let me warn you, it’s dangerously good. Nutty, slightly sweet, and packed with crunchy breadcrumbs, it’s the kind of spread that makes you rethink everything you knew about peanut butter.

Sure, you could:

  • Smear it on toast or a rice cake.
  • Drizzle it on your favorite Vanilla ice cream.
  • Blend it into a smoothie with frozen banana and milk.
  • Make no-churn ice cream (Rooted Fare has an amazing recipe!).
  • Swap it into baking recipes like billionaire bars or mochi cake.
  • Or let’s be honest just eat it straight off the spoon.

But today, we’re taking it to the next level and making Black Sesame Butter Rice Krispy Treats.

How to Make Your Own Black Sesame Butter

If you don’t have Rooted Fare’s Crunchy Black Sesame Butter on hand (or you just love a DIY moment), making your own is super easy! Here’s how:

Homemade Black Sesame Butter Recipe (MaKES ABOUT 1 CUP)

Instructions:

  1. Toast the sesame seeds – Heat a dry pan over medium heat and toast the black sesame seeds for about 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently until fragrant. Be careful—they burn fast!
  2. Blend it up – Add the toasted seeds to a food processor. Blend until they start to release their oils.
  3. Add the extras – Drizzle in the oil, add the sugar, vanilla and a pinch of sea salt. Blend again until smooth. If it’s too thick, add a little more oil.
  4. Store & enjoy – Transfer to an airtight jar and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Now, let’s put this black sesame magic to good use in some Rice Krispy Treats!
