Copycat South Block Peanut Butter Blast + Spinach Smoothie

by Gina Dal Molin

Looking for a smoothie that’s easy, delicious and packed with nutrients? Say hello to the Peanut Butter Blast, inspired by my favorite South Block (popular smoothie bar in the DMV) smoothie. They are known for not using ice in their smoothies. Instead, I use frozen sliced bananas to give it that perfectly creamy, frosty texture without watering down the flavor.

This smoothie is a quick and easy way to fuel your busy day, whether you need a filling breakfast or a post-workout treat.

Why You’ll Love This Smoothie

Smoothies can sometimes be too icy and thin, but by using frozen bananas instead of ice, you’ll get a rich, velvety consistency without sacrificing flavor. Here’s why this smoothie should be in your daily rotation:

  • Creamy & Satisfying: The frozen banana creates a thick, milkshake-like texture while keeping it naturally sweet
  • Packed with Protein: With peanut butter and protein powder, this smoothie is a powerhouse of protein to keep you full and energized
  • Spinach Boost: You won’t taste the spinach, but you’ll get all the benefits
  • No Ice Needed: No ice means no watered-down flavor

Ingredients You’ll Need

Customize

  • Add Chia or Flax Seeds: Boost the fiber content with a teaspoon of chia or flax seeds
  • Switch the Nut Butter: Almond or cashew butter would also work beautifully in this recipe
  • Swap Greens: Not a spinach fan? Try using kale or Spirulina powder
  • Add Collagen and/or Creatine
  • Make it a smoothie bowl and add your favorite granola and sliced bananas

That’s it—your ultimate Copycat South Block Peanut Butter Blast + Spinach Smoothie without the need for ice. This smoothie is thick, creamy, and packed with everything you need to fuel your day. Give it a try and let me know how you customize your version.
